midnight

midnight is bewitching it is true
the uncertainty between the old
day and the new the perfect
time to become a lover
no other concerns over
sun or star there is no end
one fades as the other permeates
the landscape may be bleak
or beautiful though the change
the play of light and shadow
is what makes us new again.
